Chestnut Hill, MA (SportsNetwork. C.C. Sabathia Yankees Jersey .com) - Malcolm Brogdon scored 20 points and No. 2 Virginia pulled away late against Boston College to come through with a 66-51 victory over the Eagles. The Cavaliers unblemished record was temporarily placed in jeopardy when they trailed 38-33 early in the second half. However, Virginia put together a 13-2 run and dominated the final 14 minutes to prevent the upset bid. Though Justin Anderson, the Cavs leading scorer on the season, was held without a field goal, Anthony Gill amassed 11 points and 10 rebounds to help Virginia (17-0, 5-0 ACC) to its first 5-0 start in ACC play since 1980-81. London Perrantes added eight points -- all coming in the second half -- along with six assists. Boston College (8-8, 0-4) remained winless in conference games despite Olivier Hanlans 18 points and six assists. Patrick Heckmann finished with 15 points for the Eagles. After falling behind by five after Hanlan scored in transition with under 14 1/2 minutes to play, the Cavaliers got it together from that moment on. Virginia held the Eagles scoreless over the next six-plus minutes while netting 10 consecutive points to move ahead to stay. Two Hanlan free throws ended Boston Colleges drought and brought the Eagles within 43-40, but Perrrantes knocked down a 3-pointer on the ensuing possession and Virginia never led by less than four thereafter. The Cavs put it away behind an 11-0 surge, which Perrantes began with another triple with less than five minutes remaining, that opened up a 64-48 advantage entering the final minute. Boston College trailed 27-24 at intermission before Heckmann led the Eagles on a 10-4 run to begin the second half. The senior guard dropped in seven points during the flurry, the last three coming on a long-distance jumper that snapped a 31-31 tie less than four minutes into the period. Virginia shot just 37 percent during an inefficient first half in which the teams were tied at 22-22 following a corner 3-pointer from the Eagles Will Magarity with just over four minutes to go in the frame. Marial Shayok countered with a trey of his own on the other end to put the Cavs back in front, with the two sides hitting just a pair of free throws each over the remainder of the stanza. Game Notes Anderson ended 0-of-8 from the field but went 8-of-9 from the foul line ... Virginia also improved to 6-0 on the road for the first time since the aforementioned 1980-81 campaign, in which the Cavs began the season with a school-record 23-game win streak ... BCs 0-4 start in the ACC is the programs worst in league play since it dropped its first nine Big East games in 1998-99 ... The Cavaliers had lost in four of their previous five visits to Chestnut Hill, with the lone win coming in 2008. Yogi Berra Yankees Jersey . - Gary Kubiak is John Elways No. Mickey Mantle Jersey . But back-up Peter Budaj has put up two wins and an overtime loss while starting three games in four nights since Price went down with a suspected groin injury. Two teams in the headlines will do battle in the Western Conference semifinals when the Oklahoma City Thunder host the Los Angeles Clippers in the series-opener Monday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena. For the second-seeded Thunder, "Mr. Unreliable" became something of a rallying cry. The Oklahoman ran that headline describing Kevin Durant, who will probably be handed the leagues MVP award before a home game during this series. Durant responded with 36 and 33 points in the final two games against the Memphis Grizzlies, both double-digit victories for OKC in elimination games during the first round. "Hes one of the best players on the planet," Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks said of his superstar. "Hes going to continue to help us win games and move us forward, not only with his shot-making, but his playmaking." Sadly, the Clippers headlines were of a much more serious tone during the first round against Golden State. Their owner, Donald Sterling, was caught on tape making racist comments. It affected the team in its Game 4 loss, then, before Game 5, NBA commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling for life and prompted the Board of Governors to force Sterling to sell the team. Through this tumultuous time, the third-seeded Clippers hung on for a Game 7 win over the Warriors. "I just wanted us to win the game," said Clippers coach Doc Rivers. "Not because of all of this stuff, butt this team just needed this win. Jorge Posada Yankees Jersey. I thought our guys fought. The adversity, they went through it. It drained them and they found enough energy to find a way to win the game." Each team features two superstars. For the Thunder, Durant averaged 29.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.6 blocks against the Grizz. Granted, Durant shot 44 percent and 32 percent from 3-point range, which are low numbers by his standards. Russell Westbrook averaged 25.6 points in the Grizzlies series, but he took 23 shot attempts a game, which was the same number as Durant. Westbrook shot 38 percent from the field and committed 4.9 turnovers per game. For LA, Chris Paul is the leader and scored 22 points and handed out 14 assists in the Game 7 victory. Blake Griffin blossomed into a well-rounded offensive machine. And special mention to Clippers big man DeAndre Jordan, who averaged 12.1 points, 15.1 rebounds and 4.0 blocks against the Warriors. During the season, the two squads were evenly matched. The Thunder have won five of the last seven meetings, but the two sides split four games this season and each team managed a win on the road. The Thunder were eliminated in this round last season by the Grizzlies when Westbrook got hurt in the first round against the Houston Rockets. The Clippers have never advanced past the second round in franchise history. Game 2 will be Wednesday night in OKC.
