NASHVILLE Daryl Worley Jersey , Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee right tackle Jack Conklin will start the season on the active roster after the Titans waived 35 players and placed two others on injured reserve to reach the NFL’s 53-man limit.

The Titans announced their roster moves Saturday, a couple hours before the league’s afternoon deadline.

Conklin tore his left ACL on Jan. 13 in a divisional playoff loss in New England, and he spent the preseason on the physically unable to perform list, raising questions about how much of the season he might miss. By not starting the season on the PUP list, the tackle will be available whenever he’s deemed ready to play instead of sitting out the next six weeks.

Veteran Dennis Kelly filled in at right tackle for Conklin through the offseason and preseason. But the starting job is Conklin’s after he was the eighth draft pick overall in 2016 out of Michigan State before having an All-Pro rookie season . The Titans open the season Sept. 9 at Miami.

Coming off a second straight 9-7 season and the team’s first playoff victory in 14 years , the Titans currently have four undrafted rookies on the roster. Cameron Batson of Texas Tech is the sixth wide receiver and is joined by offensive lineman Aaron Stinnie of James Madison, linebacker Sharif Finch of Temple, and defensive end Matt Dickerson of UCLA.

The Titans waived offensive lineman Xavier Su’a-Filo, a veteran signed this offseason to add experienced depth .

They also waived quarterback Luke Falk Joe Barksdale Jersey , who had been the fourth and final member of Tennessee’s small draft class . The QB from Washington State played the Titans’ final preseason game, a 13-3 loss to Minnesota, and Falk was 13 of 24 for 114 yards. But the Titans also added veteran Blaine Gabbert to back up Marcus Mariota.

Tennessee placed receiver Devin Ross and punter/kicker Austin Barnard on injured reserve. The Titans also waived undrafted rookie linebacker Robert Spillane, who led the team and ranked seventh in the NFL with 24 combined tackles this preseason.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Seattle Seahawks first-round pick Rashaad Penny had surgery Wednesday to repair a broken finger.

Head coach Pete Carroll said the surgery went well and Penny isn’t expected to miss more than a couple of weeks.

“He can already move it and it’s not going to be in a cast or any of that kind of stuff Nazair Jones Jersey , so he’s in pretty good shape,” Carroll said. “We got a great report on it. He’s not going to be out very long at all.”

The rookie running back out of San Diego State was injured during pass-blocking drills Monday and left the field with trainers.

Carroll said he believes Penny can still be ready for the start of the regular season.

“I don’t have any doubt about what he’s capable of doing. I really don’t,” Carroll said. “We just got to make sure he’s in great shape and let him play ball.”

Penny carried eight times for 16 yards in his preseason debut Thursday against the Indianapolis Colts. He also caught two passes for seven yards. He has been the second backup in the team’s rotation behind Chris Carson, who had gained the starting job last year after being a seventh-round selection out of Oklahoma State.

“It was tough,” Carson said of Penny’s injury. “You could tell by the look on his face that he was hurt about it. But he’s a tough kid. He’ll bounce back.”

Seattle has been trying this offseason to fix a rushing attack that netted just one rushing touchdown from a running back all last season. It was a group that also had to use 11 different ball carriers in 2016 due to a number of injuries at the position.

Penny’s addition was both a move to increase production and add quality depth. He had been impressing early in camp before the injury.

“He’s shown us all the instincts. His want-to is great. His learning ability is excellent. … Carrying the football instinctively Doug Baldwin Jersey , how to catch it and run with it, he’s done all that stuff. We’ve seen plenty,” Carroll said.
